Percussionist | Lyricist | Composer
About Me
I am a classically trained Tabla and Jodi player of the Punjab Gharana, currently based in Manchester, United Kingdom.
My musical journey began under the guidance of my father, Ustad Kulwinder Singh, an accomplished tabla artist and disciple of the legendary Ustad Alla Rakha Khan Sahib. Building on this strong foundation, I became a disciple of Ustad Fazal Qureshi at the age of 15, deepening my training in the rich traditions of Indian classical percussion.
In 2015, I was awarded the Gold Medal in Tabla Visharad by Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, recognizing my dedication and excellence in classical music.
Today, I perform internationally as a soloist and accompanist while also teaching, mentoring aspiring musicians, and composing original music. Alongside Indian classical performance, I am a songwriter and lyricist who has contributed to the Punjabi music industry and have composed for multimedia projects, including the soundtrack for the video game Mumbai Gullies: Radio 1.
My work has also been featured in international collaborations, including Project Planet Drum with Playing For Change, King Clave, and the United Nations General Assembly, as well as recordings for Mumbai Sanskruti with the Indian Heritage Society under the guidance of Ustad Fazal Qureshi.
Whether on stage, in the studio, or in the classroom, my aim is to preserve the traditions of Indian classical music while connecting with audiences through meaningful musical collaborations across cultures.
Passing the Tradition Forward

Teaching is a continuation of the musical tradition passed down by my own gurus. Every student is guided with patience, discipline and individual attention, building strong fundamentals before progressing to advanced repertoire and improvisation. Whether teaching a beginner or an experienced musician, I aim to nurture confidence, curiosity and a lifelong connection with Indian classical percussion.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching students from diverse cultural and musical backgrounds in India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the USA and beyond.
My teaching blends the depth of traditional Indian classical training with modern, structured learning methods, enabling students of all ages and abilities to progress with clarity, confidence and artistic expression.
Whether you're picking up the tabla for the first time or refining years of experience, every lesson is tailored to help you grow with confidence, discipline, and joy.
